Phil Plante's

Phil's four-lesson program was the perfect fit for my high school player.  The swing enhancements were intuitively presented and brought immediate improvement in bat speed and power.

Need a little help with that baseball or softball swing?  Since 2005, I have been providing effective and affordable hitting instruction for baseball and softball in the Olney, MD, area:

  • Each private lesson (about 45 minutes) is just $25.  Every 4th lesson is just $15.  That's 4 private lessons for $90, about what you'd pay for one private lesson at most places.
  • Want to learn with a friend or sibling?  I offer semi-private lessons for two players at a time for $35 ($17.50 per player) per lesson, or $125 for 4 lessons

My approach to teaching is based on the key phases and positions of the swing as described on the Pre-Swing, Turn, Extend, and Follow-Through pages of this web site.  I use the Zepp Labs 3D video analysis system to show how the student's positions compare to the correct positions.  The Zepp system also allows me to compare each student's swing to the swings of professional MLB players.  The lessons and video analysis help the student master the key positions in each phase of the swing.

I have worked with customers from ages 6 to 63.  So whether you have a T-Baller just starting out or you are a weekend warrior looking to re-discover past glory, I can help.  I recommend a minimum of four lessons, as mastering the swing takes time and practice.  The off-season is the best time to work on your swing.  Lessons are starting to book up, so contact me to set up an appointment soon.

I teach in a net-enclosed area in the basement of my home in Olney.  It’s not a full-sized batting cage and I don’t have a regular pitching machine.  The goal of the lessons is to improve the hitter’s swing mechanics.  This is actually best done without pitched balls because it allows the hitter to focus on his swing rather than the ball.  I recommend that the hitter augment his lessons with trips to a regular batting cage to work on using his improved swing on pitched balls.
